IDAMAN fought hard but fell short to cut Saints' unbeaten run in the Suva/Laucala Basketball League on Tuesday night at the Vodafone Arena.

The feature game of the round saw defending champions Saints extend its lead after beating the Namadi-based team 50-42 in the A-grade competition.

Suva/Laucala Basketball Association official Leonard Whippy said Idaman, which had national reps Koli Matalau and Johnny Seruvatu was a much improved side.

Saints had Jese and Tui Sikivou and was assisted by seasoned players William Qounadovu and Semesa Sikivou.

Qounadovu and Jese top scored for Saints with 12 points each while Tui netted 11 points.

Idaman's Matalau was the highest scorer on 13 points while Seruvatu managed 12 points.

In the other A-grade game, Warriors showed their dominance over a young and fast improving New Era side 38-15.

"In the B-grade division, not one team stood out from the competition as all teams have lost at least once," Whippy said.

Results:

New Era II 8 Jats 26, Baseliners 27 Noobies 42, Saints 50 Idaman 42, Pitbulls 43 Outcydaz 26, Warriors 38 New Era 15.
