THE five-star rated Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most awarded SUV ever. The premium icon of the Jeep brand continues to win-over opinion-leading publications, television and on-line media outlets, journalist associations and industry organizations.

A consistent thread in each award includes leading 4x4 and winter-driving capability, world-class interior design, and outstanding quality.

The US government awarded the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the five-star overall side crash rating, its highest designation, thanks to over 45 available safety and security features. In addition to the five-star overall side crash rating, the Grand Cherokee also received:

* five-star combined side barrier and pole rating for front seat, five-star combined side barrier and pole rating for rear seat.

* five-star side barrier rating for driver front seat - built for males, five-star side barrier rating for passenger rear seat - built for females, five-star side pole rating for driver front seat - built for females, and five-star frontal barrier crash rating for driver - built for males.

JeepĀ® Grand Cherokee, the most-awarded SUV in history, retains the prestigious "SUV of Texas" crown. The 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit was also named the "Luxury SUV of Texas."

Mike Herzing, president of the Texas Auto Writers Association summed it up best, "Grand Cherokee once again demonstrated its superior levels of performance, quality, interior craftsmanship, and reliability that make it an award-winning SUV. Grand Cherokee is a tremendous value for consumers, and is clearly the 'SUV of Texas.'

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee was awarded a "Best Buy+" from Consumers Digest in the full-size luxury SUV category.

According to Consumers Digest, Best Buy award winners deliver the most value for the money in their respective classes. The Consumers Digest concept of value is based on a vehicle's purchase price and ownership costs relative to subjective factors, such as comfort, performance and utility

The 2012 Grand Cherokee has earned a Top Safety Pick from America's Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, placing it in an elite class for safety and security. The 2012 'Top Safety Pick' designation recognises vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rear, and now rollover crashes based on "Good" ratings in institute tests.

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers an available Forward Collision Warning System recommended by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Research conducted by the NHTSA found that almost 30 per cent of the total crashes reported to police each year in the U.S. were as a result of rear-end collisions. A study concluded that 1.5 seconds of additional warning could prevent up to 90 per cent of rear-end collisions.
