Update: 8:58PM BA special administrator Arun Prasad said the Ba River has not reached its critical point as yet.

However, shop owners in Ba are not taking any chances and have begun moving stock to higher ground.

"At the moment it is drizzling, however, if we experience heavy rain then there is a very strong possibility that the river will break its banks," he said.

Elevuka Creek, located in the middle of town has reached halfway to critical level and is also not expected to break its banks, Mr Prasad said.
