DESPITE a loss in round two of the Southern Snooker League last Sunday, Deepak J Ram maintains the lead in the competition.

The former national number one got four points for participation and leads the Carz and Carz-sponsored competition with a total of 34 points.

Round two was won by Sikeli Nawaqaliva who is making a return to competitive snooker after a one year hiatus.

Tournament official Riffat Bhatti said Nawaqaliva beat another comeback player Jack Cox in the final at the Nausori Club.

"He (Nawaqaliva) didn't play in the first round but when he did play in the second round, he won and is now in contention for the league title," he said.

"His win gives him 30 points so now he is second to Ram on the overall points table."

Meanwhile, Bhatti congratulated the Southern Division Billiards and Snooker Association for winning the East vs West challenge for the seventh year in a row.

"The Southern Division side won five or the six matches in the singles competition and four of the five matches in the doubles competition.

"West won the lone billiards competition when Suresh Chauhan beat Praneel Singh."
