NATIONAL hockey player Jerome Edwards came to India to play hockey and especially against the Indian team and no injury was going to stop him.

Despite spraining his ankle on Saturday night, Edwards was on the field and played the hosts on Monday night.

"I'm happy I played," he said.

Coach Hector Smith Sr said Edwards was one of their fast players whom they had high hopes for.

Edwards defied medical predictions of taking a few days to recover.

Like the rest of his teammates, he was proud that he played a good game against the Indians.

Goalkeeper Richard Eyre said they were pleased with the result of their game against India.

His teammate Harry Heritage said it was after a long time that they played a team of that calibre.

"We didn't score, but we played and we are happy with the exposure," he said.

"From that game we were able to see our weaknesses and strengths."
