THE Sisi Initiative Site Support Group is made up of a small team.

But their hard work was recognised by the United Nations Development Program through a world award under the sustainable development community projects.

The award, under the UNDP Equator Initiative program, was presented in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last year by UNDP Administrator Helen Clark who labelled the community work as heroic and inspiring.

This week, the UNDP resident representative Akiko Fujii handed the award over to the committee members who are from the districts of Natewa and Tunuloa.

While handing over the award at Vusasivo Village in Natewa, she said the achievement by the group had been outstanding and definitely promoted to the world the work done at the two districts.

"I am very grateful to be here in the districts to hand over the award to a very hardworking committee that involves a group of youths from the villages in Natewa and Tunuloa," Ms Fujii said.

The Sisi project was among 113 countries from around the world that vied for the top places.
