"This is two-year plan to prepare the young ones mentally, physically and spiritually for the future," head coach Malakai Veisamasama said last night.
"Most of our club members are not elite athletes but all of them, including the young ones, are slowly bearing the fruit of off-season training.
Veisamasama said most members had not even made their school teams but getting former reps like "JJ (Joseph Rodan Junior), who is a parent, has really seen them make a marked improvement which will have them knocking on the doors of selection for the Coke and Chow Games this year".
Olympus athlete Waisale Nagonevulavula ran the under-18 400 metres heat one in 53.6 seconds. In the open men's 800 metres, Laucala's Urupeni Senibullu clocked 2minutes 16.2 seconds to win the event ahead of Olympus Zubair Dean (2.20.3s). Brothers club's Timoci Koroduadua won the under-14 400 metres in 61.60 seconds.
