FORTY per cent of people recently screened in Labasa have high blood pressure.
Action for Children and the Aged (ACATA) director Roshan Lal said people who were screened positive for high blood pressure fell within the age range of 29 to 45 years.
Mr Lal said majority of the people who were detected with high blood pressure were physically fit and the least expected to be suffering from any disease.
"This is just proof that people need to be screened so that they are aware of their health condition," he said.
"We are encouraging people to use the opportunity provided through this joint effort between ACATA Fiji and the Vodafone ATH foundation and attend the screening.
"Last week we had screened 200 people and today (yesterday) we screened more than 200 people and it is encouraging to see that people are making use of this opportunity," he said.
