THE Security Forces women's side will be a force to reckon with in this year's Vanua Challenge following an impressive performance from the side at the Vulaca Championship at Vodafone Arena in Laucala.

The Viliame Waqavuka-coached side lost to Suva Black by three straight sets in the final yesterday but showed promising signs in the court.

The capital city girls overpowered the Security Force One side by 25-22, 25-12 and 25-18.

Waqavuka said the Security Forces side was playing in the Fiji Volleyball Federation-sanctioned tournament after 16 years.

"During the last three weeks I have been emphasising to the girls that we have to qualify for the Vanua Challenge and we went two steps ahead by reaching the final," he said.

"I'm really pleased with that and thank the girls for the great performance."
