A FAMILY of three who were involved in a car accident in Rakiraki last month have been discharged from the Lautoka Hospital. According to west police spokeswoman Naina Ragigia, the accident victims were now recovering from their injuries at their home in Rakiraki.

"The last time we spoke to them, they were able to co-operate with us in our investigations.

"In the initial stages of their admission at the hospital they were unable to communicate with us," said Ms Ragigia.

She said before being discharged, the mother of the nine-year-old child who died in the same accident was admitted at the hospital's Intensive Care Unit before she was transferred to the women's ward. The second victim who died in the accident was a Fiji-born New Zealand resident who offered the family a lift in her car before it went off the road near the Malake junction in Rakiraki.
