FORMER national team captain Unaisi Rokoura has been officially appointed as the coach for the national netball side and the Under-21 national netball side.

The official announcement was made by Netball Fiji yesterday when they finalised the management positions for the two teams.

Netball Fiji president Wainikiti Bogidrau said a three-member panel interviewed the applicants on Monday and then recommended the successful ones to the NF executives who endorsed the recommendations.

"The decision to appoint Una to this position was made in the best interest of the sport especially in preparation of our elite athletes for the Pacific Netball Series in June and the World Youth Championship in August and beyond," Bogidrau said.

"We have confidence in Una's ability to perform the dual role given her qualifications, experience and passion for the sport."

Rokoura will work in collaboration with a new technical adviser, former Singapore national coach, Kate Carpenter.

"We are working out the finer details of this arrangement with Kate, who is currently in the country.

"We are excited to have someone of Kate's calibre and experience to assist us in the next few months."

Bogidrau said NF acknowledged the contributions by its outgoing U21 Management Team.

"We are indeed grateful to Moape Vu and Della Shaw, who guided the U21 team in the last 12 months.

"We appreciate the sacrifice and commitment shown by both of them especially as these positions are voluntary," she said.

Meanwhile, the two new national team managers are Sitiveni Cama Rabuka, and Kelera Yalidole.

Rabuka, who will manage the national team, had managed the Suva Netball team at last year's Crest Chicken National Championship.

Yalidole, has previous experience in managing the team as the assistant manager for the national side from 2005 to 2007.
