THE launch of the elections website proves Fiji is well on its way to democratic elections in 2014, says a senior diplomat.

Indonesian ambassador Chandra Salim said Fiji was showing how serious it was committed to the 2014 general election with its latest move.

And in the spirit of regional collaboration, he has extended an invitation to the Attorney-General to travel to Indonesia and see how elections were conducted.

"I would really like the minister responsible for elections to visit Indonesia especially to discuss with the Electoral Commission's Office because the more he understands what we are doing, the more he will be able to understand about running elections in an archipelagic country," Mr Salim said.

Mr Salim praised the path taken by Fiji saying preparations so far "were good".
