THE Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva was filled to capacity on Sunday as the regular worshippers were joined by the local Chinese community for mass to mark the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Archbishop-elect Father Peter Loy Chong, who is of Chinese ancestry himself, preached on the message about new life and new beginnings.

A member of the congregation Mary Beramainaivalu said it was great to see the Asian community celebrate the Chinese New Year by dedicating it to the Almighty.
