National rep on assault charge

NATIONAL netball rep Seruwaia Vonolagi has pleaded guilty to one count of assault.

Ms Vonologi appeared before Magistrate Yohan Liyanage in Suva yesterday.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Jitendra Singh said on October 7 last year, Ms Vonolagi allegedly assaulted Penaia Raiyalo, a lecturer who was her partner for two years at Samabula.

In court, Ms Vonolagi admitted the charges and agreed to the summary of facts.

The court heard that on the day, Ms Vonolagi allegedly threw a bottle of chilli sauce at her partner at 4am before punching him.

The two had a heated argument she assaulted her partner. The sentencing submission is expected to be heard today.
