Rape charge
A 39-YEAR-OLD landowner appeared before Magistrate Thusara Rajasinghe last Friday charged with rape.
It is alleged that on January 26, 2009, the accused forcefully had sexual intercourse with an 11-year-old girl who is also his neighbour.
Police prosecutor Anil Prasad called for a witness and the victim to testify on the case which Magistrate Rajasinghe ruled for a case to answer.
The accused has been released on bail and the case has been deferred to today.
