FAVOURITES Rifle Range bombed out of the Sigatoka Electric-sponsored Lautoka Football Association 2013 knockout competition yesterday.
The Rifle Range team which represented Lautoka at the National Club Championship last year went down to Tuivilavila 2-1 in an upset loss at Nadovu Park.
Laced with district reps including Jone Sorolo, Mitieli Namuka, Jone Kaloutani, Alvin Avinesh and Valerio Nawatu, the team failed to convince in the first match against Andhra FC.
Blues FC won the fixture 2-0 with both goals scored in the second spell.
Press hammered Fusion FC 5-1. LFA secretary Reginald Abinesh Gounder said the Press team proved to be strong in the opening round.
He said some matches had to be decided on penalty kicks.
"The duration of the knockout matches is 60 minutes," Gounder said.
"So if teams were locked level after 60 minutes then penalty kicks were taken to decide the winner. The competition will continue next weekend." FNU Lautoka went down to FC Education 2-0, Babu's United defeated United Sangam 3-1 via penalty shootout, Waiyavi Strikers went down to Rangers 7-5 via penalties, Rifle Range lost to Tuivilavila 2-1, ASPAP Sports beat Naikabula Koroipita 6-5 on penalties, Burning West was beaten by Service 2-0, ASPAP Topline lost to Vitogo Youth 3-0 while Natabua Strikers defeated Tomuka 3-2.
