THE Westfield Tokatoka Resort team walked away $7000 richer after winning the Wadigi 7s at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Saturday.
The Westfield Tokatoka Resort team defeated Warden Gold 28-24 in the main final.
Westfield Tokatoka Resort team mentor Epeli Lagiloa said they came from behind to beat the Warden Gold team. He said the boys showed a lot of character despite being down in the final.
"We exposed some new boys in the tournament," Lagiloa said.
"The players were composed even when we were behind. They stood up to the challenge and fought hard. It was good to come from behind and topple a well known 7s team like the Wardens."
Veteran Pio Tuwai did not feature for the Westfield Tokatoka Resort team because of injury.
In the semi-finals Westfield Tokatoka Resort defeated the host club Wadigi while Warden Gold beat Tale Barbarians.
Tournament co-ordinator Apimeleki Nasalo said the two-day tournament proved to be successful. Nasalo said they hoped to organise a bigger tournament next year. Botaira Stingers won the plate title beating Police while Vomo won the bowl title.
