THE Lautoka Rugby Union will organise a series of tens tournaments in a bid to select players for the 2013 rugby season.

The first tournament will be held at Churchill Park this Saturday.

LRU secretary Salesi Vulakoro said the tournaments were only for the Lautoka clubs.

He said a total of six tournaments would be held.

"The purpose of the tournament is to identify players who would be part of the district squad for the new season," Vulakoro said.

"We have kept a minimal registration fee for the competition at $30. There will be cash prizes for the teams that reach the semi-finals."

"The winner will get $200. The runner-up will receive $100 while the losing semi-finalist will get $50 each."

Lautoka missed out on the Digicel Cup semi-final last year after finishing fifth in the competition.

In the Farebrother Sullivan challenge the Maroons went down to Suva 16-19.
