TUBERCULOSIS survivor Muttu Goundar is a happy man after having survived two deadly diseases that threatened his life last year.

Mr Goundar said he did not only battle tuberculosis, widely known as TB, but also had to fight through the deadly dengue fever virus that almost claimed his life last year.

He said he now looked at life from a different perspective after surviving the two deadly illnesses.

"It was hard to accept the fact that I had TB because no one had it in my family," Mr Goundar said.

"At first, I found out that I had dengue and that I needed medical help, so I visited the hospital for treatment," he said.

"But to my surprise, I was also diagnosed with TB which meant spending more than two months at the hospital."

Mr Goundar said it was hard at first being away from his family but he had to make some sacrifices for his survival.

"Now I am free from TB and dengue all thanks to the treatment, the doctors and nurses who were like family to me when I was admitted," he said.
