WORK on upgrading the Nayawa Village environment to one that befits its status as an 'urban village' is almost complete.
The upgrade, a pilot project undertaken by the Sigatoka Town Council, the Ministry of Housing and the People's Community Network, is designed to improve some aspects of the village environment to be on par with other residential properties that border the town.
This includes construction of driveways and drainage systems.
Sigatoka Town Council chief executive officer Anand Pillay said this was the first project of its kind to be conducted in Sigatoka, adding that works were 97 per cent complete.
