A THREE-month old baby escaped injuries after the vehicle she was travelling in fell off a bridge in Taveuni.

The baby was among three other passengers on board a four-wheel-drive that fell off a bridge at Waica on the south side of the island on Thursday.

Police have again asked motorists to be careful while driving on the road.

"The vehicle was crossing the bridge when the accident happened resulting in it falling off the bridge at Waica," Divisional Police Commander North Assistant Superintendent of Police Fulori Rainibogi said.

"The four were taken to the Taveuni Hospital and admitted but have been discharged this morning (yesterday)," ASP Rainibogi said.

In a separate incident yesterday, a man driving an oil tanker that veered off the well known S-Bend at Lomaloma, Seaqaqa, was lucky to survive the accident with minor scratches to his body.

Police say the man was treated at the hospital and sent home.
