A total of 28 clubs will feature in the Sigatoka Electric sponsored Lautoka Football Association knockout competition which starts at Nadovu Park tomorrow.

Press and Rifle Range go into the competition as the top seeds.

Both teams represented the district during the National Club Championship last year.

Lautoka Football Association vice president and knockout coordinator Faaiaz Ali said the knockout competition would be played over 60 minutes.

He said the clubs would have to pay a minimal entry fee of $50.

Ali said the knockout was being staged to allow the interim team management to scout for talented players.

"We are thankful to Vijay Narayan the managing director of Sigatoka Electric for sponsoring the competition," Ali said.

"Narayan is originally from Wairabetia in Lautoka and has sponsored many sporting events and teams including the champion Sabeto Roosters rugby league side.

"For the knockout there will be cash prizes. Teams that will not participate in the knockout will face a $150 fine. The competition was approved during the last council meeting. The draw was also done during the meeting."

The knockout competition will kick-off at 8am.
