Job loss an 'act of God'

Repeka Nasiko
Saturday, February 09, 2013

MINISTER for Labour Jone Usamate yesterday heard that a Lautoka couple lost their jobs as a result of an "act of God".

The hotel workers said they were terminated a month after Tropical Cyclone Evan hit Fiji. The couple were among 50 other workers "with grievances" that showed up to raise their concerns with the minister.

After hearing the couple's concerns, Mr Usamate assured them that the ministry would investigate the case.

The ministry will begin its investigations into the case on Monday.
