FIJI hockey reps Adrian Smith and James Saqacala's burden were lightened yesterday when Carpenters Fiji Limited came on board to sponsor the duo for the upcoming World Hockey League in India.

Smith and Saqacala who are employees at Carpenters Fiji received $10,000 from their employer. The duo could now focus on their training and the huge task ahead of them with their burden of $3500 being taken care of by Carpenters Fiji Ltd.

National men's hockey coach Hector Smith said the sponsorship came on time for the two players.

"We just could not ask for anything better than this sponsorship which came on time for Adrian and James. They are employees at Carpenters and I believe this is a good gesture from the company to their employees to repay their loyalty to the company," he said. Smith said most of the time, players trained and at the same time burdened with the fact they needed to provide $3500 for the trip to India.

"Now that burden is take care of and we are thankful to Carpenters for being there for the two players.

"We are indeed happy with the sponsorship," he added. Saqacala and Adrian are two key players in Smith's team.

The Fiji women's and men's hockey teams leave for India next week.
