National golf association to promote seniors competition

THE National Golf Association of Fiji is keen to promote seniors golf in the country.

Last Sunday the NGAF hosted the first seniors golf tournament at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club in Nadi.

Thipait Hussain won the overall title with a score of 80. Mohammed Rafiq finished as the runner up. He scored 81.

Arun Charan won the overall nett. Charan scored 66. Ananda Madhwan was the runner up with 72.

Abid Hussain won the gross title in the elite division. Abid scored an impressive 69. Mohammed Faiyaz finished as the runner up with 78.

Nilesh Chand won the overall nett title in the elite division with a score of 68. Rajesh Prasad was the runner up with 74.

Lyndall Fisher won the ladies category. She grossed 85. Lillian Allen won the nett title with 72.

Kelera Watling scored 85 to win the ladies Under-55 division. NGAF secretary Amitesh Chandra and Doctor Sereima Bale won the nearest to the pin prizes. Chandra also hit the longest drive.

A total of 35 golfers turned up for the 18 hole tournament.

"We would like to thank our sponsors Reddy Dimond, Aqua Pacific, Tappoo Group, DGRC and Nandina Restaurant," Chandra said.

"The NGAF will hold another seniors tournament in May."
