A MAN who allegedly raped a seven-year old girl appeared in court on Monday afternoon.

The accused's plea to one count of rape was not taken when he appeared before Magistrate Alipate Mataitini.

He was also served with the full disclosures by police prosecutor Joseph Dickson.

Magistrate Mataitini advised the court that the case would be transferred to the High Court because it was an indictable offence.

He remanded the accused into custody and adjourned the case to February 11.

The increasing number of rape cases on minors has authorities scrambling to find solutions to the problem.
