THE Ba Football Club has avoided clash with New Zealand clubs in the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League draws that was released yesterday.
Ba has been drawn in Group A along with Hekari United from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Warriors (Solomon Islands) and Amicale (Vanuatu).
Ba plays Solomon Warriors in its opening league match.
Top New Zealand football clubs, Auckland City and Waitakere United will clash with Dragons FC of Tahiti and New Caledonia's Mont-Dore in Group B. The tournament, previously known as the O-League, has undergone a change of format for the 2013 edition and will see eight of the Pacific's finest teams from seven OFC member association countries fight it out for the right to be crowned kings of Oceania.
Unlike in previous years, however, a semi-final stage will now be played and will feature the two highest placed teams in each group. The winner of Group A will face the second placed team in Group B while the winner of Group B will meet the second-placed team in Group A.
These matches will be played over two legs on a home-and-away basis.
The OFC Champions League kicks-off on March 30.
