THE Fiji National Rugby League is looking forward to a good start to this year's Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Vodafone Trophy competition.

To ensure that, they will run refresher courses for officials from today.

FNRL general manager Tomi Finau said team managers, coaches and referees and touch judges would attend these courses.

He said these three positions were key roles in the development of the sport especially at grassroots level.

"These refresher courses are like a re-cap of the roles and responsibilities of the managers, coaches and officials," Finau said.

"In the past we have had cases where people in these positions were not fully aware of their roles," he said.

"These refresher courses are aimed at strengthening the roles of these important positions."

Finau said the courses had been divided into three days with each day focusing on a role.

"On Wednesday (today), we will have the course for team managers and we encourage team mangers to attend the course to understand the magnitude of their responsibility to their stakeholders.

"On Thursday, we will have the course for coaches where the participants will get to understand their role in the team and responsibilities.

"On Friday, the course will be for the referees and touch judges and officials will get a chance to upraise their knowledge on the latest changes in the laws of the game," he said.
