TAILEVU Naitasiri kicked started their National Football League premier division southern/western division competition on a high note thrashing Rakiraki 5-0 at the Penang Sangam High School ground on Saturday.
The Tailevu Naitasiri side put on a sterling second half display to trounce the westerners on their home soil. Jale Vota a former Rakiraki rep opened the scoring for the visitors in the 29th minute. Tailevu Naitasiri led 1-0 at halftime.
Minilote Amini scored Tailevu Naitasiri's second goal in the 60th minute. Navendra Nadan found the back of the net four minutes later. Josaia Ratu scored Tailevu Naitasiri's fourth goal in the 80th minute while Apete Koronivalu sealed the win in the 84th minute.
In another game Lami downed Vatukoula 2-0. Jashneel Prasad scored in the 68th minute while Amit Singh netted in the 88th minute.
Fiji Football Association vice president and NFL board chairman Sheik Ibrahim said the premier division was being played in two zones this year.
He said the southern and western districts were grouped together with the northern districts forming the other zone.
