New players

NEW players in the Fiji team were surprised when they toured the Westpac Stadium on Wednesday. The five newcomers and others playing in Wellington for the first time were expecting the Cake Tin to have one of the biggest rugby pitches. But to their amazement, it seemed almost similar to the ones they played on back home.

Cake Tin memory

ONE of the most memorable moments for the Fiji team at the Cake Tin has to be feat in 1951. During that tour Fijian fullback Penaia Lese of Nadrala village in Nadroga, who was making his debut for Fiji kicked the ball so hard that it burst in the air. Apart from the unbeaten 1939 tour, the national side had also beaten New Zealand Maori in 1951 and in 1957 on the same ground.

Team DJ

JOJI Ragamate played deejay yesterday when the team toured the Wellington Regional Hospital. Using his 'expensive' looking cellphone connected to the stereo system in the van, the Wardens playmaker made sure his accomplice enjoyed the trip to the hospital. He seemed a fan of Hindi music as he played the 'Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita' song from Akshay Kumar starrer Rowdy Rathore.

New role

FUNNY man Ilai Tinai took time out to try some photographic skills yesterday. On the way back from the hospital visit, Tinai borrowed Martin's jumbo camera to show he was equally good behind the lens. He seemed to enjoy every moment in his new role and proudly showed others some of his best (funny) shots.
