Driver out on bail

THE 46-year-old bus driver who allegedly caused the death of a welder on Wednesday morning has been released on bail.

Shiu Darshan appeared in the Nausori Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving.

Mr Darshan was driving a Tebara Transport bus which ran over pedestrian Jitendra Prasad, 42, on Bau Rd.

Magistrate Charles Ratakele released Darshan on a $3000 bond.

Mr Darshan has been ordered not to interfere with witnesses, not to change his address and to report to Nausori Police Station every Saturday between 8am and 6pm.

He was also ordered to maintain good behaviour.

The case has been adjourned to March 11.
