ANZ boosts relief groups' efforts

THE Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprise and Development in Lautoka and the Rama Krishna Mission Society of Nadi were given a $15,000 boost to their cyclone relief efforts by the ANZ Bank yesterday.

The two non-profit organisations have been at the forefront of providing assistance to families and individuals affected by Cyclone Evan last year.

They received $7500 each from the bank. ANZ's Nathan Wilson said people in the Western Division knew too well of the widespread devastation caused by Cyclone Evan.

"It's especially difficult given many of our communities were only just beginning to recover or had only just got back on their feet after the major floods early last year.

FRIEND general manager Samisoni Pareti and Rama Krishna Mission's Swami Sunishthananda acknowledged the assistance.
