Update: 10:55PM The Digicel Fiji sevens team has been relegated to the bowl quarter-final of the HSBC Sevens World Series tournament in Wellington tomorrow.
This was after the Setefano Cakau captained side suffered two shock defeats to Scotland 14-12 and Australia 21-12 before bouncing back to clinch their only win of day one over Portugal 24-7 in their final pool match. Fiji faces the United States in the third bowl quarter-final at 12.44pm.
Fiji sevens assistant coach Timoci Wainiqolo said his boys failed to follow the game plan which resulted in the shock entry into the bowl competition.
Fiji currently trails New Zealand and France in the IRB points table with 44 points. Series champion New Zealand have 60 points and France is second with 46.
