PRIME Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has sent a letter of condolence to the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Dilma Vana Rousseff, for the recent fire in that country that claimed more than 230 lives.

"On behalf of the government and people of Fiji, I express my deepest condolences regarding the tragic fire that occurred in the nightclub in Santa Maria early Sunday morning that claimed over 230 innocent young lives," Commodore Bainimarama said in his letter.

"It is with great sadness that I send you this message as the New Year has just begun and many of these young victims were probably just looking forward to another year of studies and personal development and other planned activities," he wrote.
