FRCA focuses on services

IN the lead up to International Customs Day celebrations today, the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority organised a media tour of the Suva Wharf and Nadi International Airport frontline operations yesterday.

The one-day program was part of the authority's efforts to boost its operational duties and public awareness of its day-to-day work on the ground.

Revenue Collection-Customs Division national manager Goundar Sami Kumar said compiling and recording information was changing as time passed.

He said FRCA was working on reducing the processing time for documents considering the changing environment and advanced technology in developing countries like Fiji.

"We are targeting a paperless and queue-less system. All imports and exports are processed in a timely manner," he said.

He said the authority was tasked with maintaining surveillance of border security at various points of entry while keeping the country's revenue in check.
