Missed training

JOJI Ragamate missed the blowout session on Tuesday because of hamstring injury.

The star playmaker was back on his feet again and re-joined the team training yesterday.

Ragamate suffered a knee injury during the Uprising 7s but made a swift recovery to make the national team for the Wellington 7s.

He has been one of the most consistent players for the national side and was named the Player of the Tournament at the Gold Coast 7s in Australia last year.

No scrimmage

THE Fiji team will not have any scrimmaging session ahead of the Wellington 7s tournament.

The team management are assured the players have had enough build-up at the Uprising 7s which was held two weeks ago.

Also coach Timoci Wainiqolo doesn't want to risk any players as he hopes to field the fittest side this weekend.

Meanwhile the national side will pay a visit to a hospital in Wellington today before the march later in the afternoon.

Kenya dance

THE Kenyans seem to be in the jovial mood and feeling no heat before the Wellington 7s.

The side was seen with a mobile stereo turned on high with some rocking music on their way to and from the training venue.

Yesterday they did a bit of infamous Kenyan victory dance at the James Cook Hotel for the fans and television media.

The side coached by former England coach Mike Friday is a team to reckon with this weekend.

IRB build-up

INTERNATIONAL Rugby Board has started building up on the Rugby World Cup 7s which will be held in June this year in Russia.

Photographer Martin was seen with the 2013 RWC 7s banner and the Russian hat which he gave to the top 7s players and referees to pose with for the promotional banner.

Wales won the last RWC 7s in Dubai in 2009.

Fiji has two world cup titles in 1997 and 2005.

Team hotel

JAMES Cook Hotel this week is dedicated to Wellington 7s.

All teams and officials are billeted at this hotel for the duration of the tournament which will end this Saturday.

Tournament organisers have arranged for volunteers who are present at the hotel lobby to assist the teams and the media.

Wellington 7s is sponsored by Hertz.

Weird names

SHOPS and bars in Wellington have weird names.

A tour around the heart of the city left me amused with some unusual but kind of hilarious names.

A particular shop is called Man to Man, which many of my friends were curious about when the picture of the shop sign was posted on facebook.

This shop is actually a men's clothing store.

A coffee shop here is called Felix, just Felix. Kool aye!
