Investigation complete

POLICE have completed investigations into the million dollar scam involving a Labasa businessman. North police commander Assistant Senior Superintendent Fulori Rainibogi confirmed the case was pending in court. ASSP Rainibogi said heavy machinery involved in the scam was seized from the businessman and is being kept as exhibits at the Labasa Police Station.

Police await decision

THE police are awaiting the decision from the Director of Public Prosecutions office on charges to be made against a 30-year-old man who allegedly attempted to rape a student in Taveuni last week. Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said statements and interviews had been completed and the court docket had been forwarded to the DPPs office for further advice.

Couple questioned

THE police have questioned a farmer and his wife in Cakaudrove over the alleged defilement of a 13-year-old in 2008. Police said the couple knew about the alleged incident. Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the farmer allegedly defiled the student on several occasions in 2008 with the knowledge of his wife who threatened the victim not to reveal the crime.
