NADI coach Kamal Swamy believes his side has the capability to clinch the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League title this year.

On Saturday Nadi moved to the top of the NFL points table after defeating defending champions Ba 1-0 at Prince Charles Park.

The win was a positive start for Navneeda Gounder who was elected as Nadi Football Association president last Thursday.

Ironically Nadi last won the NFL title in 2000 when Gounder was the president.

Swamy dedicated the win to Gounder.

He said Gounder commanded a lot of respect in Nadi soccer, being one of their most successful administrators.

Swamy said the win against Ba was a big result in their quest to win the NFL

He said the two sessions training for the Ba game paid off.

Swamy said more work lay ahead in their bid to become 2013 NFL winners.

"The players did the hard yards training twice daily," Swamy said.

"We would like to thank all the players for their dedication. The win against Ba is for our president. To win the NFL title we will have to continue working hard."

About 3000 fans witnessed the Suva versus Rewa and Nadi versus Ba double header on Saturday.
