A former Labasa soccer administrator has replaced Dewan Chand as the Fiji Football Association vice president for the Northern Division.

Girja Prasad, a life insurance sales executive, will serve in the capacity until the elections for the position in October.

Prasad is a former Labasa Football Association secretary, treasurer and vice president.

Chand's reign ended when he failed to attend the Fiji Football Association board meeting in Ba on Saturday.

Under the Fiji FA statute a board member who does not attend three meetings is automatically disqualified.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said there would be elections for the positions of three vice presidents this year.

"The Fiji FA positions will be contested in the west, north and south," Patel said.

"The positions include that of Jiten Kumar of the west, Ravindra Swamy of the south and that of Girja who has just been appointed."

Chand was charged with two counts of defilement of a Class Eight student in 2010. He was convicted and sentenced to seven years imprisonment with three years of the sentence suspended.
