A FITTER looking Navua side hammered Tavua 4-0 during the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.
Veteran Seveci Rokotakala opened the scoring sheet in the 15th minute and 11 minutes later Vineet Chand took Navua to a commanding 2-0 lead.
In the second spell Navua dominated play upfront as their midfield players distributed the ball evenly to their pace strikers who made several attempts at the goal mouth.
James Charitar recieved a right cross from Pranil Kumar who blast past Tavua goalkeeper to take Navua up to a 3-0 lead. Kumar, who was outstanding in both attack and defence, nailed the fourth goal from 30 meters.
Tavua striker Samu Nabeni could have scored two goals for his team with only the goalkeeper to beat but both his attempts were too casual.
Navua coach Manoj Kumar said his team almost defaulted the game as they had no fund to take them down to Sigatoka.
"But Eddie Fong Toy and his Combine Brothers club forked out money to hire a five-tonne carrier," said Kumar.
He also gave credit to Faud Ali from the Leed Club who paid for players' meals.
"I would like to thank the two gentlemen for lending us a hand."
He has called on the Navua Football Association to wake up.
"With due respect to the Navua officials, please wake up on your job." Tavua coach Savenaca Nasara Senior said fitness was a major factor for the loss.
