THE Mighty Heights Volleyball Club will host its first ever tournament in Namadi today.
The Namadi-based club is affiliated to the Suva Volleyball Association and will host the tournament with assistance from SVA.
With the objective of reviving the sport within the area, Mighty Heights team manager Charles Colati said they anticipated a successful event.
"This is the first time for us to host a big tournament like this. We are hoping that everything will go according to plan," he said.
The winner walks away with $500. Colati said they expected 17 men and women's teams to compete for the cash prize. Colati attributed the assistance of SVA in organising tournaments for various club.
"Suva Volleyball is helping us in hosting the event so we are thankful for that. We are one of the affiliated clubs for SVA and this is one way they are helping in the development of volleyball in the country.
"Other clubs that are affiliated to Suva will host similar tournaments. The main objective there is to revive volleyball within the communities and also develop the sport from club level," Charles said.
He said Mighty Heights would be a force to reckon with, playing in front of its home supporters. He urged the Namadi community to come out and support them.
