THE Raiwai Volleyball Association will host a friendly tournament next week as a build-up to next month's Vulaca Championship.
Raiwai, the hosts for the Vulaca, has been hosting friendly games for the Raiwaqa and the Nadonumai volleyball association's in order to give the budding teams exposure before the main event.
Yesterday the three associations formed rotated players in the respective teams and played practice matches at the Eagles Court in Raiwai.
Interim vice president of Raiwai, Usaia Kalivakatoga said other teams were welcome to join the tournament next week.
He said they wanted the associations to be as best prepared for the Vulaca Championship.
"So far its just us (Raiwai), Raiwaqa and Nadonumai that is confirmed for this small tournament," Kalivakatoga said.
"But if other teams want to play, they are welcome to come and try out their team for the Vulaca," he said.
"The tournament will be just like a dress-rehearsal for us for the Vulaca."
Kalivakatoga said his side was brimming with confidence ahead of the main competition.
"The title has eluded us for over 10 years as the last time we won it was in 2001.
"So we really want to win it and our players are training hard to prepare for it," he said.
The Vulaca Championship will be played on February 15 and 16.
