CORE of the Lomaivuna Secondary School under-19 team are part of the Naitasiri squad for the 2013 Digicel Cup U20 competition.
After the trials at Ram Lakhan Park in Samabula yesterday, Naitasiri U20 team manager Atu Kurubiou said most players that were named in the 40-member squad played at the Deans Secondary School competition last year.
He said the selectors were impressed with the skills level shown by the trialists.
"We are happy to start our campaign for this season with this trial. Most of the players that attended played in the Deans Secondary School competition last year," he said.
"We are really impressed with the skills level of the players. They played at the secondary school and they have a lot to offer at this level this season.
He said players from Lelean Memorial, Queen Victoria and Ratu Kadavulevu School were part of the trials.
Kurubiou said playing the U20 at provincial level was another opportunity for the players to showcase their talents.
"Most of the Lomaivuna, QVS, RKS and Lelean players attended the trials. They showed maturity and lots of skills during the trials and we are happy about it.
"I told them that this will be a perfect opportunity where they can utilise the skills and knowledge they learnt while playing at secondary school level.
"It is another step into their rugby career and we hope to help them flourish in the future," he said.
"Players were given training programs," he added.
