14-day run ends in court

SAILASA Mociu who allegedly stabbed a 33-year-old woman to death in Tailevu earlier this month appeared in the Nausori Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon.

Mr Mociu was produced in court under tight security and appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele charged with one count of murder.

His lawyer Iqbal Khan told the court to record certain complaints about police and military officers who arrested his client while he came for legal advice at his Lautoka office.

Mr Khan requested the court to provide the full names and ranks of police and military officers who arrested his client. He said after the arrest his client was taken to the Lautoka Police Station where he was allegedly assaulted by police officers.
