THE Viria Blues rugby tournament will be held next month, tournament officials confirmed yeterday.

The event was initially scheduled to be held last week. However the low registration of teams forced the organisers to think otherwise.

The tournament will now be played on February 2 at the Suva Grammar School grounds with the winner walking away with $1200.

Tournament organiser Jale Qiokata says it was unfortunate they did not have the number of teams they wanted.

"This is final, we will go on with the tournament next month on the second. We postponed the event because we did not have that number of teams which we wanted to be part of the event," he said.

"We will not make any other change because we are confident of getting the number of teams we want for this tournament."

Qiokata urged interested clubs to register. The first 32 teams would be accommodated with a registration fee of $160.

"We have only 10 spots left now and we are inviting all interested teams that want to come and be part of this tournament, they are most welcome," Qiokata said.

The under-19 winner will walk away with $500. He said interested teams could contact 8632122 or 9633429 for more information.
