PRIME Minister Voreqe Bainimarama paid a surprise visit to twins, Miracle and Angel, at Vunidawa District Hospital.

According to a government statement, the twins from Nabena Village in Naitasiri were born premature during Tropical Cyclone Evan.

The twins' mother was evacuated via a helicopter to Suva after all roads were blocked because of flooding.

Commodore Bainimarama was told the twins had recovered well and would be discharged soon.

The PM also toured Nairukuruku District and Vunidawa District schools in Naitasiri where he instructed that refurbishment and assistance to the two schools be carried out immediately.

He also visited the Vunidawa Sanatam Primary School and requested officials to ensure that the refurbishment and construction of teachers quarters are included in the overall works.

The government statement said a request to construct new classroom blocks was approved by the PM after he witnessed the conditions that both teachers and students were facing.

It said the PM was overwhelmed with the determination by students to pursue education despite the condition of their classrooms and further boosted their morale with words of encouragement and advice.

The Prime Minister was in Naitasiri to attend to official engagements and stopped to visit the schools on his way back.
