THE Hare Krishna Society is assisting villagers at Yadua, Yaqaqa, Tavea and Galoa under its Food for Life Fiji, Nation Building Education and Community Development Program.
The villages were ravaged by Tropical Cyclone Evan in December last year.
Food for Life national co-ordinator, Dr Rajesh Maharaj said an immediate response was made by the organisation to send a team to distribute hot meals to the victims.
"A team was also organised in the north which was led by Mr Yadram, a devotee. He and his family from Dreketi left for the island of Galoa," said Dr Maharaj.
"The group distributed hot meals to the villagers and neighbouring island villages totalling up to 360 meals per day."
Dr Maharaj also visited the team in Galoa taking with him food supplies such as bags of rice, dhal, potatoes, cooking oil and beans given by business houses in Suva.
