THE Nadi Volleyball Association will field seven teams in the Western Rally Championship which will be played at the Airports Fiji Limited courts in Namaka this Saturday.

The NVA has named strong squads to represent the district with the inclusion of former indoor and beach volleyball reps.

Nadi will enter four teams in the men's category. Former Oceania Beach Volleyball Championship gold medallist Wise Raratabu and national indoor rep Joe Draunibaka will be part of the men's teams.

2003 South Pacific Games beach volleyball gold medallist Finau Waqa and Kulawai rep Repeka Lasaqa will guide the Nadi women's teams.

NVA secretary Anasa Qio said they would field two teams in the women's, Under-23 and masters categories.

He said there would be a men's and women's team each in the U23 and masters section.

"The training for all the teams have been going on well each afternoon from last week," Qio said.

"There are some promising players in the U23 teams. As for the senior side's we are fielding the top players."

"The aim is to regain our top status in the Western Division."

"The sport of volleyball was first introduced in Nadi. However in recent years the interest died out."
