BARBARA Nasara has taken an early lead in round one of the Ladies Sumer Golf Championship at the Fiji Golf Club last Tuesday.

Nasara competed against 28 other golfers at the FMF Foods Limited sponsored event. She came in with 24 stableford points to lead the points table with six.

Agnes Managreve was second with four and Debi Gibson had two points to settle at third position.

FGC Ladies captain Margret Brown said it was a perfect way to start the new season. She added the event was graced with a fine weather at the Vatuwaqa golf course.

"We played round one yesterday (Tuesday) and as mentioned, the number of players who participated was excellent. We had 29 starters in total, eight of whom were men," she said.

"The weather was perfect for golf- dry conditions and a lovely cool breeze throughout the afternoon.

"The majority of the players turned up to play at 2pm but we also had some working ladies who played their game at 4.30pm.

"The winners of the 9-hole competition came in with excellent scores. We are using temporary greens at the moment which makes putting a bit difficult but it did not stop the winners from playing so well," she said.

The winner of each round bags six points during the eight-week competition.
