THE Navua soccer team is aiming to bounce back from their opening round loss to Ba in the National Football League.
The southern side went down 0-2 to the Men in Black at Prince Charles Park in Nadi last weekend and this week face Tavua at Sigatoka's Lawaqa Park in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries-sponsored competition. Team director Pravin Chand revealed that some people in Navua were trying to sabotage the team.
"There is a division in Navua football," Chand told Times Sport. "A rival group is trying to disrupt the close rapport and momentum this nice bunch of home grown players had built up from the IDC," he said.
"It is saddening and sickening to see these people, who were not willing to support Navua when the team was facing relegation last year, now come up to try and take charge."
Chand said there would be a lot of changes for the game against Tavua.
"I can reveal names and open up a can of worms but I will wait for a proper forum like the AGM to let the people of Navua know as to what's happening, and what my coach Manoj Kumar had to go through in the game against Ba.
"All was not well against Ba, we were let down. There will be changes," he said.
The match between Navua and Tavua is scheduled to start at 1.30pm.
